Safety routines
Sign-in and pickup
A teacher meets you at the room door, and you sign your child in and out. We release a child only to the adults you list when you register, and we ask anyone we don't know for photo ID.
A first block
A child's first block starts with a short settle-in at the door. We ask you for the routines that matter: naps, bottles, a comfort toy and what helps at goodbye.
Allergies
Tell us about any allergy when you register. Once your child is enrolled, we ask again in private.
Naps
Infants sleep on their backs, in their own cot, with nothing else in the cot. Older children who nap rest on a mat with a teacher in the room.
Clean hands
Every child washes hands on arrival, before snack and after outdoor play, at a sink built for small people.
Drills
We practice fire and weather drills at a child's pace, so a drill is a game of walking to the door together.

The people in the room
Ignacia and Ihab are on the floor every day, and they know who is coming.

Ignacia Meyer
Director
Ignacia is at the front door most mornings, learning each child's routines before a first block and answering your questions at registration.

Ihab Fadel
Lead caregiver, infants and twos
Ihab runs the morning room: floor play, books and the low table where snack happens. He keeps a short note on each new child's first block so the second one goes easier.
When you need us
An appointment, a shift, a hearing, an errand
Drop-in care is for the day that doesn't fit. Reserve a block, go, and come back for your child.
An appointment
A clinic visit, a dentist's chair or a meeting at the school. Reserve a block and your child is with a teacher for the visit and the wait on either side.
A shift
A few hours of work that couldn't move. Know which room your child is in, and who is in it, until you're back.
A hearing
Court is no place for a small child. We're close to the courthouse, so you can go in knowing that pickup is a short walk away.
An errand
The bank, the license office, a long list with no stroller. Reserve an hour or two and run it.
Reserve a time
Register once, then pick a block. Tell us your child's age and the hours, and we confirm by text.
Questions parents ask first
Which ages do you take?
From six weeks to five years, in four age groups: infants and toddlers, twos, threes and fours. Each group has its own room and its own teachers.
How do I reserve a time?
Register once, then reserve on our reservation page or by calling the front desk. We confirm by text. If a block is full, join the waitlist for that day and we text you when a place opens.
How far ahead do I need to reserve?
The day before is best. If you need a block the same day, call us and we'll tell you whether a room has space.
How long can my child stay in a day?
Most families reserve one block. A longer day is possible when a room has space, and we'll tell you the limit when you reserve.
Is Hiccup licensed?
Yes. Hiccup is licensed as a child care center by KDHE. The license is on the safety page and at the foot of every page.
