What a block is like
A morning or an afternoon keeps the same rhythm, at each age's pace.
- 01The first few minutes
Step 1: Arrival
A teacher meets you at the room door. You sign your child in, say goodbye, and we start on the rug.
- 02Early in the block
Step 2: Settling in
Floor play, blocks and books. A new child chooses where to start, and a teacher stays close.
- 03Mid-block
Step 3: Snack
Children eat together at low tables. Tell us about allergies when you register.
- 04Late in the block
Step 4: Story and song
A story on the rug and a song or two. The youngest children sit on a lap or a mat.
- 05When the weather allows
Step 5: Outdoors
The fenced garden, with a teacher at the gate and another in the yard.
- 06The end of the block
Step 6: Pickup
A teacher hands each child to you at the room door, with a word about how the block went.
